Help, need comfy work shoes
I have been stuck at a desk for 6 years, and now I am doing much more work on my feet than my lazy body is used to. At the end of the day my feet are killing me.
I need a recomendation on some shoes, they dont need to be dress shoes, just plain work shoes ( no steel toe required ).
Any suggestions?

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
I wear Wolverine durashocks, they are available in several different models. I have worn them for about 7 years now. I am on my second pair, they last for a long time. The soles and cushoning are made for working on concrete floors.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
Best shoes for comfort and value that I have found are Rockports. These have been the only shoes I have owned that there wasn't any pain in the "break-in" process. Rockport has an outlet in Woodburn and Lincoln City, and runs the buy one get the other half off!!

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
Just purchased some Bass shoes at the factory outlets in Lincoln City. Most confortable shoes that I have worn in a long time. They have a lot of styles to fit wide feet as well. I am going back for a couple more pairs.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
I second the eccos. I have owned a couple pair. All you really need. They are very comfortable, and get better with time. Nordstrom sells them for a little under $200. You can wear them with jeans or kakis/collard shirt. They are gortex and brown or black leather. They are a sporty boot. I used to do a lot of walking back in forth to psu. It can be a flat out down poor and you can walk the whole way in mud puddles and your feet will stay dry and comfortable.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
My wife has foot problems and can only wear certain brands so they don't cause pain. She had to have a nerve removed from her foot, so unfortunatly understand what foot problems are. she says Naot boots, Clarks or Rockport shoes are what she has had the best success with.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
Try out Clarks. I have worn them for work for many years. Available at factory outlet mall in Woodburn. They use to be made in England and were excellant. Now made in China, cost less and not quite as good but still better than most.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
When I was working at a factory my feet, knees and hips were killing me. Concrete floors have no give. I went to a Red Wing shoe store and told them I was on concrete all day. They set me up with a pair of boots and insoles. Spendy but NO more pain.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
I have to were the full-on safety boot with metatarsal guards etc. unfortunately I have to also wear the boots with the melt proof soles due to the heat where I work. The best work boots I have found for a reasonable price are the ones I have now...Carolina's. very good fit, wariable widths and with a set of cheap gell soles I can go 12 hours without much distress.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
I have to join those who recomend the eccos. I have peripheral neuropathy ( nerve degeneration due to diabetes ) and the ecco's make it possible for me to work all day on concrete and still be able to walk at the end of the day. They are not cheap but they last at least a year and half
and I probably spend more in that time on hooks and hackle and impulse buying at Joes or Fishermans marine.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
On a temp. job working on one of large new cassinos in Las Vegas, I had some off time to really look around . The locals recommended the SAS brand of shoes. Said all the dealers wear them.
I bought two pair and wow, are they comfortable, and they have lasted much longer than most shoes I have owned. Just found out the Shoe Mill @ Lloyd Center carries this brand. Have not been over to check them out to see what they have, however, next time I need shoes, I am going there to have a look. Highly recommend the SAS brand.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
My mom wears the socks that support her feet more, plus wears comfortable shoes. She wears converse. She was having problems with her feet when she started working since she was on them more.

Re: Help, need comfy work shoes
Thanks for all the input. I went to American boots in Beaverton Mall and got some that were reccomended.
And yes, I did say comfy. I have gotten a little soft over the years and I guess its catching up to me. Not to worry, theres bound to be some blood of some sort falling on these comfy shoes soon.
