I don't think so I actually think they are jealous of him the girls seem to really like him no matter how hard he tries to mind his own business.

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
this is the best I could do in 38 years of deer hunting in Oregon. Oh wait, that's the only state I have deer hunted in, well, except for that day I discovered I was in California when I checked my map.

I wasn't even really hunting. I gave up at 2PM after sneaking around all day and finding nothing but tons of does, fawns and spikes. I was just hoofin' it back to the truck when I stumbled onto a great looking spot. I unshouldered the rifle and took about ten slow steps, and this deer busted out from under a manzanita bush about twenty feet in front of me. He ran across a clearing and stopped to look back at what woke him up. That was his last mistake. 185lbs. on certified scales dressed out. I wore the fur off his shoulders and hips dragging him out. Thank God it was downhill most of the way.

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
Thought we would try and keep this thread going......just got the pic from my baby sisters 4 point she killed during the general deer season this year, not a monster buck but its her second deer ever and they have both been 4 points so she is turning into a heck of a hunter!
Take care,
OH

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
I've been meaning to put these up for awhile, but I just got around to it. These bucks are not from this year, but I figured they were worthy (at least one of them is) of going in the blacktail post!
The one on the left was harvested back in the early 1960's west of McMinnville. The bases are about as thick as a coke can, and the mass goes all the way up through the horns. No score, but definitely a book buck. The little buck on the right scores gross 131 NT. Found dead in 2004 in Polk Co.

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
Here is my 2006 buck. His Pope and Young green gross score was 101 7/8 green net 94 7/8, so he will atleast make the Pope and Young book after the 60 day dry period. 23 yard heart shot from my treestand. Called in with grunts and bleats. Story on 2006 trophy page.

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
I found this thread while searching and thought it might be fitting to bring it back to the top since the late archery/muzzleloader is nearly upon us.
Here is my best to date from 2003. Sorry about the picture quality. I used a instant camera and the film was damaged due to the cold weather.
......And my partner's from 2006

Re: Blacktail Bucks Only
I did not like the factory open sights at all and decided to go with the Lyman 57. This is the only peep I have ever used, and it is very accurate and quick to acquire the target.
2 more days, season opens, rut is on, and the rain is comin'.
