What to do in a situation
What would you do if you have fishing a hole and having some luck and someone decided to walk upriver about 15 feet and then out into the hole you have been fishing.
This happened to me two weeks ago and was not to sure what would be the right thing to do?

Re: What to do in a situation
Put on a really big rusty treble hook and keep fishing. At the first sign of any action on the pole tip set the hook real solid like. Pain helps educate sometimes.

Well.....I suppose I would say something to the guy...as tactfully as possible. He may not know any better.

OCFish,
I to have had that happen to me and I definatley say something, especially if the a%%hole didn't ask if was alright to fish the same drift as you. Just down right rude

Re: What to do in a situation
Yeah use your words, that is what I always tell my sons when they are fighting..
Maybee something like:
Excuse me but you almost stepped on that fish I was just casting to.. And by the way the section of river you are standing in probably holds about 25,000 fertilised fish eggs...

Re: What to do in a situation
My personal favorite:
Hey, ya wanna know what happened to the last guy that stood exactly where you are standing? They're still searching for the dental records I heard, but they can't seem to recover any teeth to even run the records.

How big is the guy? How drunk is the guy? How well-armed is the guy?

Re: What to do in a situation
lol no no phish on....you have to ask yourself in that situation: How drunk am I? How big am I? How well armed am I? It works much easier than sizing the other guy up first.

Re: What to do in a situation
"Excuse me. I'm fishing next to where your standing. Would you mind fishing 100' up or down stream of me? I saw a fish roll down in the tailout about 10 minutes ago, right above those rocks. You might try there. Thanks."
If the river is too crowded for the 100' clearance, pick some other distance. If the fellow is a poor fisherman, you don't have to run him off too far. His being reasonably near by could prevent 3 snaggers from deciding to join you on the run.
If the above doesn't work, you have to decided how far to take it. Maybe "Look, I asked you once before and you seem to be deaf. You're standing where the fish used to be. You're screwing up the fishing. Now please move unless you want me to go stand in your fishing spot the next time we meet up on the river."
I don't think the preceding invites a fight or gunplay, but if the person reacts aggressively your next move is to either put up or shut up. (I'd leave or move away unless this had happened before with the same person and you feel you have to take a stand.)

Re: What to do in a situation
Use common sense people. If the guy is wading out in the hole, it doesn't matter how big the guy is because it would be way too easy to bounce him downstream. Just kick him in the jewels if he's big. Even if he's not big, just kick him there anyways. It usually works.

THE BLUE FOX WILL HOOK MORE THAN FISH...

Re: What to do in a situation
Something similar happened to me on the Siletz a few years ago. The bonehead actually caught a fish. He didnt have a pen to record his catch on his tag. He asked me If I had a pen, I said Yes but you cant use it. We exchanged a few words and I left a little ****** off. As I waded back across the river downstream I ran into a state trooper. He checked out my fish and tag. As he was leaving an evil feeling came over me and I told the trooper about the guy with the untagged fish. Antways The got receved a nice fat fine and I chuckled about all the way home.
I bet that guy thinks twice before he pulls that again.
