Elk Versus Deer *Blue Mt's & East of Cascades* Oregon/Washington Version*
Oregon & Washington are almost part of the Rocky Mt's. Well there are some very interesting formations that amount to great hunting experiences. I've hunted deer and elk a few seasons east of the Cascades but hesitate to post an opinion here because my Coast region experience is liable to taint my opinion.
Please only answer this poll if you have experience hunting on foot or froma stand deer and elk in simular habitat in the Cascades. remember there are as many deer per square mile as there are elk. No Guessing an opinion based on what you have heard please. I am going to include the option of a non-vote on this poll. I will try to do the same on the other polls if possible.
You alone (no other hunters all year) have a tag for two 1 day hunts in two different 36 square mile roadless areas in the Cascades.
There are 300 Roosevelt elk and 300 Blacktail deer in each area. The ratio of bucks to does and bulls to cows ratio is the same... (For example 25% are bucks or bulls.)
You are being dropped and picked up via helicopter in the middle of this area.
The Bucks are going to be in pre rut October 25th and the bulls in post rut November 10th.
