Default changing oil F8 yamaha 4 stroke

I would like to do this my self.Can some talk me thru this I think the bottom motor cowling has to come off but I cant were it does

Its very easy. There is no filter on an F8 so all there is to change is the oil. The drain plug is on the same side of the motor as the tiller. Its on the shaft below the powerhead. IIRC its a 12mm socket needed to pull the plug.

I use a long skinny funnel bungeed to the shaft to keep the oil from running all over,I direct it to the drain pan below.

I remove the fill cap and let the oil drain for awhile. When the oil is done dripping re-install the drain plug and torque it to 17.7 lb-ft.

Refill with 27.2 oz. of oil

Thanks Ichthy demon I called a friend and he told me the same thing as you just did there is no fuel filter like I was told there was. Easy change.

I was told by a yamaha guy to replace the drain washers as well.

As cheap as they are,you really should. I've used a washer 2-3 times when I've forgotten to buy more,and have never had an issue with ruining a washer.
