Default I did it!

OK, Mark! I did it! I went out, very tentatively, not really expecting anything, because the river is still very low.
Put a yummy shrimp tail on one of your jigs, tossed it out there, and I coulda sworn it went down, twice, real fast little bumps. Hmmmmmm I said....(And I really do say, talk to myself when I fish!)
Another cast.... blip, blip, DOWN! I said, and I really did, just like a kid with candy, "It IS A FISH IT IS A FISH IT IS IT IS!"
I played it, and shoot, I think it is a native, and shoot, where are my release grips, and shoot, oh, over here 15 yards to my bag, and the fish is still on, and it is flashing its silvery sides at me and oh oh, got my forceps in hand...... Ah shoot!! Quick release! I didn't get it quite to the bank! One lucky fish, but I DID IT! It Was! It WAS! It WAS A STEELIE!
My very first on a jig!!!!!!!
YAY! Thanks, Mark and Silent Approach and everyone for all your tips! What a visual rush to see that bobber action!
I'm going to let the water rest and do it again about 4!
Oh, guys, so.... you have a short rip of water to work, you catch a fish, disturb the water.. Would you fish it more, or say I do fish it for an hour more.... How long should I rest it. Can I go NOW? or NOW? Or???

Jen

Cool Jen! Now you are hooked better than that fish was . Jig fishing is fun, effective, covers more water areas, and is a lot less snaggy. And if the rain has raised the K even a little, especially if a little color was added too, get right back out there!!! More could have been there; and for as long as the fish have been hanging out down river in the real low water even a small raise will have them on the move. So there are a couple more that just moved into your favorite spot while I wrote this. Keep us posted on the Wilson/Kilchis water condition when you have time Jen. Thanks. - Steve

I've been right many time Jen when I say, "Were there's one there's two"

If there isn't another there you should know in less than twenty minutes. Sometimes they get spooked sometimes they don't. If the water is cold or there are a ton of fish you should be able to pull more than one fish out of a spot.

maybe there will be one there tomlorrow too1

I have always believed that a fish cought down/up stream from me is a good thing cause it gets them moveing twards me.. if you hook one in the bottom of the drift and can't get another one there after 15 to 30 minutes spend another 1/2 hour at the top of the drift and see what happens..

All right Jen. Way to go. I'd go right back to the spot and have everthing ready to go before you cast. By that I mean your drag is set, pliers are handy, spot picked out for landing the fish. That way you can just concentrate on hooking and landing the fish. If you get a take and they won't hit it again, put on a different jig. Sometimes that's all it takes. It doesn't take long for the fish to settle down. By the way, what jig was it? Go get em. Take pictures too.
