Another Kwikfish idea
There seems to be a lot of interest in Kwikfish. The good news is they work in many different colors and configurations, whether factory or custom. This is how I am fishing mine. I remove the belly hook and add a second split ring and swivel to the rear hook, which I have replaced with an Owner treble. I wrap the shank of the hook with colored chenille, and tie on a Hoochie skirt of Sparkle Flash. I add a Sardine or Herring wrap, then put scent on the chenille. Sorry about the poor picture quality. I couldn't get my camera to take a good close-up.

Hmmmmmmm....
I have only seen one other person using hoochie rigs on their Kwikfish (local guide). These Rogue River salmon seem to like it.

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
GP,
I figured that the hoochie skirt and chenille would mess up the action of the lure Have you noticed this or do they swim just fine?

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
GP, Very interesting, and they look great. With the single owner in the back, do you have any problems hookin up? They look like fish killers

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Grantspastor,
My fishing partner works down by Redding during the week and fishes heavily on the Sacramento River. They've been doing similar things with Kwik fish for several years.
The first thing he does to Kwik Fish is replaces the hooks with the new Owner trebles.

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Roguefishr...I also know a local guide who uses the plastic Hoochie skirts...probably the same one you know?
Jokester...I don't think the skirt affects the swimming of the plug as much as the sardine wrap. I really haven't had much trouble getting Kwikfish to pull straight (except in very small sizes)
Blacktail...I have trouble hooking fish no matter how many hooks I use

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Oohh yes! Mini Squid Hoochie on the tail hook works real well for Fall Chinook in the Rogue River canyon. Randy showed me.

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Been doin that for steelies for about 5 years now. Kinda got out of it( laziness prevails) now.
It slows them down if fast water.
In heavily pressured waters, it catches a couple more a season( my opinion) than without.

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Hey, thay looks great.
I think I'll tie some marabou and schlappen hackel on the trailing hook and call it flyfishing.
If I do that to one of the IFish Kwikfish I could call it the "Jennie-bou".

Re: Another Kwikfish idea
Me, I would do the fly tie thing to the belly hook but not the tail hook - why? So the action of the Kwikie wiggle is not restricted. Most single hook variants of two hook plugs I drown catch more fish using a belly treble off a 4 bead chain. Also using only one Kwikie hook allows you to use a two hook mooching rigged herring or another double-hook plug on the same rod off a sliding sinkered dropper.
