This is the kind of stuff that really ticks me off. If the guy deserves to be there (and I believe he does) then vote for him. I can't believe that as a country we elevate baseball to such mythic proportions. It's a ******* kids game that we pay adults a boatload of money to play. There is no spiritual, life affirming aspect of baseball. I go to baseball games to be entertained and if a guy wants to take steriods to improve his play, thats his business. I think it's idiotic but I guess I understand why they would do it. If they really want to get these guys off the roids then don't make the pay so much. Let them play for love of the game and enough to be comfortable and quit pitching a tizzy over them doing whatever they have to do to maintain the lifestyle society has determined is appropriate for them.
Sorry for the rant, I just can't stand the holier than thou attitudes that the baseball writers voting on this stuff have.
One other thing. McGuire and Sosa pretty much brought baseball back from the brink after the strike and if nothing else should be praised for that. I was pretty disgusted with the attitudes of the ball players and the home run race made it exciting again.
