Default Marine Reserves Discussion - Tues - Newport

Tuesday, Ron M and I will pick up ANYONE from the Lebanon, Albany, and Corvallis areas who would like to go with us to show that sportsfishermen are definitely interested in the discussions about proposed marine reserves (sanctuaries) off the Oregon coast.

As Salty Walty said:

The Govs' Proposal as of the last Meeting was not looking good. Things change though and it would be good to see a few friendly faces if possible.
Warm bodies count!

Time after time the reports come back that the commercial guys were there, and so were the backers of sanctuaries, but few, if any, sportsfishermen show. Yet we have a decidedly important impact on the fisheries and economics in question.

We need to be there (Depoe Bay) by 9:00am, so will leave the Philomath Safeway around 7:00am. We are prepared to take two rigs if necessary, and I can pick folks up on the way.

Join us. We need to stay on top of this one!

I'll watch this thread and stay on top of my email to coordinate rides.

Thanks Skein. Wish I could go but haven't been working long enough to take a sick day for a fisheries meeting.

Looking forward to your impressions and ideas.

For all those attending. The DB Community Center is on 220 Bay St. Make a right at the light and head to the USCG DB Station. The Community Center is on the right just before the Station. The Parking was somewhat limited and the room was heated but an extra layer for indoor warmth might be a good idea. It might be a good idea to bring a lunch if you wish to hear the working lunch discussion.

I also look forward to a report.

I would be there, but I'm working both Nov 28th & 30th. I'm confident that many will share my view, but it is always nice to see a lot of bodies in the room.

Thanks!
