Default To all you computer wizzards

I just sent an e-mail to a client who works at a large office. I got a message back from the administrator stating I have a virus of: VBS_KAKWORM.A

What does this mean ?!?!?!?

Is my computer going to blow, am I infecting everyone else with this from my e-mail program?

I'm a dumb fishing guide, not a computer whiz, I amaze myself when I get this dumb thing to turn on in the morning!

Any help appreciated, I know it's not fishing...but.....virus on!!! -Marty

Marty - Dont know squat about computer viruses. But did find the information on the link.

Maybe this worm would work well for a fish bait. What color is it (pink) ??

Thanks Roy,

I went to another site that I found a removal program for the $%#@!*& virus!

I followed the instructions and hopefully it's fixed now! I think I'll update my virus scan now too!

Marty, check the settings on your virus
scan so it's set to scan "all files".

If you are using Norton Anti Virus, update from disk vers, the live update. There is a virus that activates when you perform the live update, and it is nasty.

Well you could get a Macintosh !! Otherwise you need to have some anti-virus software. Norton Anti-Virus is pretty adequate for home use. Also McAfee works well. Then you need to update it regularly to stay current with all the latest new viruses.

Most viruses don't do drastic damage, but some can be a real pain in the @$$ to get rid of. Don't panic, but spend a few bucks for the anti-virus stuff.

(Even if you have a Mac you should have virus protection, but almost all of the new viruses travel by e-mail and attack Windows systems)

That's a damn "worm" virus. We deal with them all the time where I work. Advice given is good, utilize Nortons or Viruscan. Hard to say what the impact is as it varies depending on the particular brand of virus. Let's just say it isn't good.

Good advice on Norton. very easy to use and it also has other features that are very useful.

Also, in todays wired world all computers should have zone alarm or a similar program. you can download a free version of zone alarm at www.zonelabs.com but I would say to pay the 39 bucks and get zone alarm pro.
