I went out in the BLM behind the house a couple hours ago to see if I could call in the big 'ol cat my buddy saw a couple weeks ago. My first set up produced about a dozen ravens. They were pretty excited about the possibilities of a meal. I headed over to another spot where my buddy and I were trying to rattle a buck in for him yesterday and I set up and did a three series of a fawn distress call and a gorgeous 4X4 buck came in to investigate. That sure doesn't happen everyday.
He walked up to within 15 feet of me and stood there for 20 minutes trying to see where the commotion was coming from. I thought about taking my camera before I left the house and sure wish I would have.

He was a great buck about 20"X20". Dang I wish I would have had my camera!! It was really cool to be so close to such a beast. Next year I have to be more patient and choosy before I fill my tag.
I have been rattlin for my buddy and we had one interested yesterday but he wouldn't come in, other than that we haven't had great luck rattling except for my other buddy who killed that dandy 5X5 on his first set-up a couple weeks ago. I was surprised that this guys neck wasn't all swelled up, the rut is winding down. Man that was cool.
