Here's hoping it'll be a good one! I'm pretty sure it will, maybe we'll have decent weather this year instead of below freezing all over the state!!

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
Great introduction Jen.
As great as the last event was, we are fortunate to have a larger team of dedicated organizers.....to ensure that the bar will be raised.
You better have a very good reason for doing something else the weekend of 2/17/07.

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
Im IN! we had a great time last year. I hope this will still be a free event where the only things you pay for are the food and raffle things.

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
Hey Paul, Yup, just like in years past, when you pay for your banquet ticket, you're paying for admission to all exhibits/seminars/workshops as well as the banquet itself. Any other activities, lodging, meals, etc. are of course at your discretion:grin:
New this year is a $1 "fee" to attend just the exhibits/seminars/workshops. We want to make sure that everyone benefitting is chipping in to help pay for the cost of putting this together, not just those attending the banquet.
Watch the board for announcements on how/when to pre-register for discounted banquet pricing... Coming soon!

Not yet, but hopefully fairly soon. The program committee needs to meet again, but we have plenty of ideas!

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
To clarify / add to what Ron just said......the agenda is deep & wide.....more topics & more speakers than last year....and some completely new "hands on" activities.
We are gradually getting more commitments from various speakers. So it is a work in progress. I'll stick my neck out and say that we'll be able to post a PRELIMINARY program by New Year's.

Can you recommend a hotel in Newport or two that would be close to the event? Hope to see ya there.

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
We have negotiated special rates with the Embarcadero (starting at $99/night) and they are holding a block of rooms for us... Identify yourself as attending the Salty Dog convention Feb 17 when making a reservation. If they seem confused, ask for Judy (the reservation folks may not know about it yet as we haven't finalized the contract). If you plan on imbibing during/after the banquet, this is the ideal place to stay.
Other than that, you might try the Shilo (an Ifish.net sponsor). They're fairly close to the event(s).

Re: Official 2007 Ifish Salty Dog Convention Thread
The Embarcadero is a great place to stay. I was there with Mr Fisherman last year. the suite was like a 2 bedroom condo!
If its anything like last year the event center alone was worth a buck!
