You just can't get there from anywhere! Talk about a river that is in the middle of nowhere. I live in Pendleton and as the crow flies it is 'just over the hill'. However, driving to Troy, no matter which way you go, can sometimes take up to 4 hours in bad conditions! Can you believe that?

I usually ride a four-wheeler into Rondowa and hit the confluence of the Wallowa and Grande Rhonde. Getting to the lower Rhonde, if you can get there, will pay dividends right now as there are lots of fish being caught. If we ever get a freshet, the fish will be on the move and the Wallowa will be hot through the beginning of April.

Hey eatme...oh man I'm sorry but I couldn't resist that one! Anyway, what do you want to know? If you are a little more specific maybe we could help. If you are coming from Boise, just go through Lewiston and cross the snake river and head down to the mouth of the Rhonde and you're fish'n. What more is there? hehe, Oh yeah, the mouth of the Rhonde is flyfishing only for about a mile or so, so you should check the regs to get the exact stats on that.
