Albany police did a good job, my son, myself, & the bystanders around were not hurt.
It could have been bad it did get my blood boilin a bit and adriniline going that is for sure.-------------------
Ever see anyone get Tazered?
Well let me tell ya, I dont know if any ifishers were in the area, cause there were a TON of cars going by. And alot of ifishers in our area.
It happend today about 3:05 at the light at 53rd and Pacific, right by SPA sales.
Long story short
Something must have gone down at the new bowling alley cause the ambulance was already there and I was right there at the light after picking my son up from daycare.
I noticed a cop had someone right there at the light sitting on the wet ground (not hand cuffed) and was talking to him, about that time another officer pulls up right to my right and stops and gets out. (this whole time Im one 53rd with a red light) The criminal gets up about that time and is going off and yelling obsinities to the cops, cars a zooming by and all the sudden the criminal runs across the street the two cops are after him, cars are slamming on their brakes so no one is hit (remember, Im at a red light) and as the criminals foot hits the sidewalk on the other side of pacific, the cops reaches down (i think "oh ****" guns, bullets, my son, I was ready to jump ontop of him just for incase) and very quickly the tazer comes out (I have never seen someone get tazered except on tv, NOT REAL LIFE) neatless to say you can put the pieces together after that. In the end there were 6 cop cars, (i think it is albanys whole cop squad forse ) and the traffic was stopped in all direction (my light has since turned green, but I could not go any were as there were cops, the emts that came running over from the bowling alley as they were there first, and a criminal on the ground, so my light turns red and there I sit at another red light watching this all unfold before my eyes). As I was directed from one of the emts to go ahead and go left towards town, I look down at the criminal and I have to say I think he was taking a trip to the ER before going to jail, his face was hamburger meat. When he was tazered his 6ft tall body looked like it had been blasted about 3 feet up and out neatless to say muscles frozen from the tazer he went down all his weight face first on the wet pavement. Glad a criminal was caught and no one was hurt, no by-standers, no cops, and we got yet another bad boy behind bars. Job well done to the Albany Police Officers.

Good thing it happened in Albany
If that would have happened in Portland, there probably would have needed a couple body bags after it was all said and done. Good job Albany PD!!

Thank you for the report!
Police officers make thousands of arrests every day in this country where no one gets hurt and the bad guy goes to jail.
Too bad all we ever hear about are the "media worthy" instances that give a bad impression of all law enforcement.

Re: Albany police did a good job, my son, myself, & the bystanders around were not hu
Having been "Tazered" in a training exercise, I can say they are very effective tools and prevent people (officers and suspects alike) from getting hurt. Although I don't think I'll be raising my hand to volunteer again anytime soon (think of a full body muscle cramp / spasm that last for 5 seconds at a time).
Please realize that these types of situations occur about everyday for larger p.d.'s. Agencies like P.P.B. have multiple instances a day. Probably thousands a year in their case. Please don't imply that when deadly force is used it's just because of a guy with an itchy trigger finger. It's because the officer doesn't have any other choice. I know several people who have had to use deadly force to save their own life or lives of others. Even though they were all justified, each of them still has to live with the fact they took another human beings life. They all have ups and downs emotionally. It's never really over for them.

And just when you hear of a officer using deadly force and then the media is picking him/her apart for doing so...remember that the officer more than likely made that decision in 3-5 seconds. It happens that fast and then the media has hours and days to examine it.

What an uneducated statement. Do yourself a favor and go on a ride along. See what you learn by sitting in the car with an officer vs. what you learn reading the oregonian or even worse....the portland tribune.
