Default Boat and Crab Pot Rental & Reports

One of my peers would like to take his young boys crabbing this holiday weekend. He sold all gear when he started family. He would rather rent than barrow my gear. Does anyone have any advice for him on where he would want to go to rent gear and were there may be some crab?

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!

I know Netarts bay has an RV park that can rent a small boat and traps.

I'm not positive, but I think both boats and crab gear can be rented at the South Beach marina store in Newport.
He could call to find out for sure.

I don't know how Nehalem Bay is crabbing right now, but Brighton Marina - right along Highway 101 has all they would need to go crabbing.

Nehalem bay has three places to ret boats and crab pots, Jetty Fishery has both and you can also crab off their dock. As mentioned Brighton Marina has both and Wheeler Marina has both. I know Jim at Wheeler Marina will give good advice as to how the crabbing is, its worth a call. Needless to say the bay can get real rough this time of the year so be careful and as Jen says "life jackets float you don't"

I second Nehelem Bay near Manzanita. Make sure he follows the regs as far as size/limit. I witnessed the sherif raising funds for the state last August.

Stopped by Nehalem last Saturday 11/18, and crabs were blown out still. You can call Jetty Fishery, and they'll tell you what's happening on the bay. Netarts would be your best bet at the RV park or further south to Newport.

Good luck!!

I dont know about conditions but I know In Newport south beach marina rents boats and maybe traps. Harrys on bay street rents traps.

In Waldport the "crab shack" rents traps and boats. the water down here has been a little to heavy for the crabs to really get into the bays lately.
