I went the other day and caught 23 small ones partner. I didn't know what kind of fish they were so I had to throw them back. I think they were called split-back poagies. I did catch one large fish worth respecting. She was a 300 pound blue marlin. I got her on my quantum heat equipped with sewing thread. (Ran out of mono) My partner caught a 300 pound lincod as well. Just an average day of fishing for us.

Hey Zobe, sounds like you and your partner need to wet a line and get out of the bar. Just kidding man, thought I'd poke some fun at your fun.

Hey Man, the jetties are my last hope for hookin' up till probably my guided crappie trip to Champion pond in August. Anyway I caught a #20 ling there 2 weeks ago...oh maybe a 20" ling but that was it.

Sounds to me like I need to bring a harness to strap into for this trip. Anybody know if incoming vessels mind towing in anything over 400 pounds. My snoopy Zebco set up is usually a magnet for fish in the 100 pound range. The guided crappie trip to champion pond sounds alright but let me tell you what a good Morse Brothers salamander trip is untouchable.

Keep your Zebcos bent.

Default Yaquina by Rockfishing

Anybody been doing any Rock Fishing off the jetties at Yaquina bay lately? Heard charters have been doing well close to shore so curious if fish have been taken in the bay at good numbers yet. Used to have a boat for that kind of thing and sure was fun when the fish are rarin to go. Kwiky knows, he helped fill an ice chest or two. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Would like to take the family over for a day of fun and rain.

Willie, I wish I would have woke up a little sooner. Coast forcast is for 20kt winds and 17ft swells. Careful on those rocks!!

Salmonator,
Yea it was a tad bit rough out there yesterday. We watched the coasties go out and escort a fairly big commercial boat over the bar,
As for fishing....
We didnt go out very far. We caught a few kelp greenling and had a couple of (what the hell was that) fish on that pretty much walked through 12 lb test line.
