Default One Fine Day in January

Ok, RW got a runthrough on posting photos on the net. Nobody could teach RW a thing about using a camera however.........

These are from the day we went out with Barnyard and kicked some @$$ on the toothless wonder at the church of the bent rod.

Speaking of Barn

And then there's that bend I keep talking about. This rod is a one piece graphite Loomis, a BBR 966 in a GL2, with seven foot of lumbering dinosaur on it.

The bend is your friend!

But wait there's more! This fish took several other fishers for a ride as well. After a little persuasion they cut their lines. We got it all back to em.

Here's the dinosaur fish up close.........

Before that happened we boated one that turned out to be just a little too big...

I had to get something in the picture to compare size with. My fat head!

RW let me hold both fish for a photo. Remember when the bag was two 36" fish? And then two 40" fish. And then a 42" and 48" fish. But never more than 6 foot.

Hey Pilar, those are some awsome pictures.

I have heard that removing those big fish from the water can cause injury and death and might even be violating the law. What special care should a person use so as not to hurt the fish or the crew on the boat when you bring a big one over the side into the boat? Have you heard anything about rules/laws stating it is unlawful?

In the 2000 Regulations on page 10 numbers 9 & 10 under restrictions are the answer to that question. 10 basically says that you must release all oversize, undersize or unwanted legals immediatly and unharmed. 9 says that it is illegal to remove oversize partially or totally out of the water.

Hey Pilar....Did you read that one about you broke the law??? What do you have to say for yourself? I wonder how many little Sturgeon fish we won't have cause you beat up that big one and it might die????

How can you pick on netters when you treat oversize like that?

Where is a "Fish Cop" when you need one? Anyone that would break the law and post pictures on the internet of the violation they did is begging for a conviction...If the law can't prosecute this one...what can they prosecute?

Duh, what was I thinking?????? I knew it had to be close to 60". Turns out it was 70". I need to have my fish-o-meter calibrated. Ask RW about the care and respect that fish was shown. It swam away happy and sassy. Remember 2 years ago that would have been a keeper.

I normally carry a 10' stick, 1 x 2 for measuring in the water. This is really handy in the Bonneville area since we get many oversize there. The fish can be checked in the water with no harm done. Rarely if ever is this size caught near Portland in the winter, so no stick on the boat that day.

BWB and ******, no excuse, call it adrenaline or perhaps stupid!

ssssh! We'll keep it quiet. If the folks on the "oops" thread hear about this you are done for. As they will explain to you regs from two years ago don't count and compliance is what it is all about. Yeah right!

Now the intent is not to ruffle feathers (emu or not) just that I hope there is as much enthusiasm for turning in snaggers during the salmon runs as there has been for the poor sob that went to weigh a fish he was clueless about. We will see!!
