Default Tadpollies

Anyone like these plugs? They seem to swim real well right out of the box, very little tuning involved. Also, how would I rig one up for a single siwash, would I still use say an 1 1/4" beaded chain off the body hook placement ? I'm not quite sure because I noticed the body hook on these plugs are closer to the front of the plug more than usual. Thanks for any help guys. I'm starting to twitch in wierd places for those nates that are on the way.....

Nook,we fish them as is out of the box.If I were inclined to make any changes, they would include removing the front hook and adding suspending dot weights available from Storm lures to keep the factory wiggle.A swivel on the rear hook would probably be a help too.Thats all.Tinkering with a wrap, ala kwikfish, but still having troubles getting them to tune.Enjoy those nates.Mark

Nook, Tadpollys are a major part of my plug arsenal. I have some custom painted ones that kick a--. They do swim well right out of the box. You rarely need to tune one unless the eye gets bent somehow (ie, fishing flopping around in the boat). Remove the front hook all together. Remove the small back hook and replace it with a larger treble or siwash hook, your choice.

Tadpollies are my favorite plugs too. They rarely, if ever, need tuning. I don't not advise fishing them with the factory hooks. I watched a good friend of mine lose a nice fish last weekend because the factory treble straightened out. Outstanding plugs but the factory hooks on them are garbage in my opinion.

Get rid of the split ring on the eyelet and replace it with a duo snap which is the same as a Hot Shot snap. Then take the split ring and treble hook off of the belly of the Tadpolly. Take the treble off of the tail and replace with a #2 Gamakatsu EWG treble. You might want to go up one size on the split ring when using the Gammy trebles. If you want to run a single off the tail, then take the split ring which you removed from the belly and attach it to the split ring on the tail. Next you will want to crimp on a 1/0 or 2/0 Gamakatsu Siwash. Make sure that the hook point rides straight up when using singles. These are the setups that have worked well for me. Good luck and be sure to release those nates!
