Default internet options

I am thinking about getting rid of my home phone line, the only reason I have it is for the use of the internet. so i want to know if there is a way to have the internet without having a phone line. it seems like i have heard something about satalite some where, but i can't remember. any help would be a step in the right direction, thanks

There are all kinds of internet providers. Charter Communications can run theirs through the tv. It's real fast. I have wireless. I have a small box on the roof, they run a cable down and come inside through the wall. It then goes into a power supply and into the back of the computer. That old dial-up is real slow compared to the newer hook-ups.

I think satellite TV offers a satellite broadband connection.

Screw Qwest!! Lousy rotten thieves!

What else can I say but unlimited U.S. Long distance...

get the Bundled Cable package. High (500+/kbs!) Speed 'net, all the phone you can ever want, and TV all in on easy to pay monthly bill.

All in all its about $20-40 cheaper per month that having seperate companies for each.

Comcast is good. If you have a home alarm system or plan to get one you will need to research how to get it monitored. My brother told me some cable/satelite phone systems have issues. Good luck - Tom

For satellite internet there is www.hughesnet.com This used to be the DirecTv satellite broadband. I do not know anything about it but you might want to look into it.

The satelite internet co. are a rip-off and comcast service totally sucks, If you have a problem it can take weeks for the service guys to fix it and then all they wont to do is TEMP fix it.

We ahd DSL but the service was really poor and undependable. After year of that we had to sack our local provider and Qwest and went to Comcast. Much much faster and so far dependable. First time for cable TV so thats wasteing a lot of our time now.

The wifey chats over seas using the internet and camera with relatives.

Comcast is really pretty darn zippy, way faster than DSL
