I believe thats the swell period. Top to bottom then back up to the top all in about 8 or 10 seconds.

I may loose my dinner just thinking about boating in those conditions... Ugh !

It has been blowing pretty steady here at the sunny Central Oregon Coast since about 7 AM. Not as bad as Sunday night, but these winds have lasted much longer with this storm.

Conditions like that anywhere else muster the news trucks and hog airtime. We call them winter storms .. elsewhere they name them and call them hurricanes.

I wonder if 46050 will make it through the winter.

May I ask, where do you get information in that format. I assume the Rock Pile is different than the ranch?? '07 will be my first year off the Oregon coast. My other salt adventures have been off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Any PM'd info on the Rock Pile and the ranch would be greatly appreciated. I'd exchange info for 13 years of experience off Nootka Sound....

refer to this map:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/Northwest.shtml

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/WestCoast_inset.shtml

Each number (46xxx) corresponds to a buoy or weather device.

Spend some time going through the data available for a given buoy, and you will become familiar with this stuff.

Oh, the buoy referenced in the first post is 46050, which is not actually on stonewall banks, but rather WNW of it.
