Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
I would suggest two calls, both of which are basin calls, get both their honker call and either their lesser or cackler call. Early in the season you really need a honker call for those big boys but later in the year a high pitched call is very effective.

i would say stick with the Foiles Migrators "Strait Meat" there a great all around call. OR the ZInk Moneymaker, both are great calls with very wide range's of tones.

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
If you want to spend a little more, go with what was said above. A Basin Abomination honker and cackler call. Or just a BA Lesser call.
If you dont want to spend that much look at the Winglock calls. For the price, they sound good and blow nice. All the guys in my group use a combo of the above and have had great luck.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
I use a big river flute and either a zink power maximus, Grounds halfbreed or haydels blackfoot for throwing a little higher pitch later on. I don't know anything about the other calls mentioned but I suppose they are great. I may look into them soon. AND, I hunt SW WA.

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
If you are not great on a goose call, like myself, go with a big river flute. You cannot do anything fancy, but it is super easy to blow.

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
FYI, I recently posted a call for sale on the General Classifieds board. It's a Basin Abomination cackler call. Thought I would pass that along.

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
Since the question was region specific and asked which "ONE" call would you buy, my answer would be the I-5 killer. Tuned properly, you can mimic anything from Honks to Cacks. By far the most versatile call on my lanyard. But callings way over rated so just go buy some quality decoys

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
if you are looking for a cheap honker call i would go with the power maximas. this call can do alot and for 30 bucks you cant beat that. if you are going after the little guys basin abomination make some great calls. go honk on some and see what you like

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
If you've noticed, this is a very open ended question and everyone will have their own opinons. The important part of this question is that you can see what others out there are using, but the MOST important part is now your job. Go to sportsmans, gi joes, fishermans, etc... and try out every honker, lesser, and cackler call they sell. Which ever fits you the best, and is the best suitable for this area of hunting, then that is your call. Hopefully that helps

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
Brett, that is good advice, but alot of places will not let you blow calls without buying them, they cite the reason being a health issue,i own numerous calls that i wouldn't have if i would have had the chance to blow them first

Re: Which Goose Call To Purchase
FISHNPOOR- That is true about the lower end calls. I know that all of the higher end acrylics and woods and some polycarbonate calls are aloud to be blown on for the most part. Sportsmans has a very large selection in the case that they allow people to blow on. Good luck

Thanks for the attempted words of wisdom Not to open ended, he hunts in SW WA, 7 types of geese, need every range, few calls can accomplish that feat. GooD try though, NOW GET BACK TO CLASS!!!
