Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
I'll be down in OR for the Thxgiving weekend and was looking for a small lake/pond to look for some bass. Is Vernonia still a decent bet at this time of year?
Also, what is the boat situation there? My bro & I can take out a small 12-footer if we have to. Motor? Electric?
thx for any and all.

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
I realize I never gave a fishing story, but I dont really have any good ones...
The first time I went bass fishing with my brother he managed to smack me in the face with his roboworm at Hagg while trying to cast and caught the only few bass that were caught that day, adding to the injury.
As you can see, however, I still go fishing with him from time to time.
Thats my story and I'm stickin with it.

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
For me, Vernonia has really blown for the past few years- and I have fished it during what would be it's "peak", plus I have had lot's of success in the past and know the lake well. What I am saying is: I think it's going to be tough right now to say the least. Some of these lakes are funny in that they can be tough as can be in the Spring and in the middle of Fall or Winter you can stick a monster, but don't get your hopes too high. Dave

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
I think Henry hagg lake closes 11-15-06 for the winter..It holds record bass, and is not all that far from Vernonia pond ...give or take an hour. There is a store near the lake I believe it is called lake stop store... they have many pictures of fish caught from the lake....If I knew their phone number I'd give it to you... then you could pick their brain...I Remember day's ,where i'd be reeling in a trout and lunker bass would grab my trout... It makes ones eyes get real big...lol....have a great day and good luck with your fishing,..... p.s.....steelhead fishing sometimes is good on the coast about thanksgiving...just another thought...

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
Never fished Vernonia but maybe I should because I really like panfish and bass. I live outside of Forest Grove so Hagg is where I spend most of my fishing time all year. It closes this Sunday I believe. Will try last time this weekend. I also would like to find a pond or small lake to fish without the pressure of Hagg. Good luck, kaygee

I've have fished vernonia for 3 years and never got one over three. You can only use an electric motor.

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
I've only been there once a realll long time ago so refresh my memory:
Do you think bringing a boat will even be neccessary? Hows the bank access for the cold water deeper fish?
Also, are there any holdover trout left in there from the stocking they do? If the bass fishing gets way too slow I might have to switch it up.
I'm not hung up on tryin to catch a monster right now - its been so long since ive wet a line anything will be welcome.
thx again everyone

Re: Anyone fish Vernonia this late?
I went out to Vernonia today and the sun was hitting the water. I saw a few fish in the shallows but couldnt get anything to bite.
