Well, here's part 2 to Teton's account of our weekend since he was absent for the dance.
It's the second day of our annual weekend trip, a tradition we've held for about 6 years now.
We headed out Sunday morning hoping to just at least shoot a few birds. Lightning rarely strikes twice for us at our second most favorite bay, but we had to try.
We mixed it up a little too. The "scouting" we had done previously had pinpointed the birds in an area we had been wanting to hunt for many years. This was the year.
It was just going to be a quick two hour shoot, hopefully get a bird or two each, and then get home.
After setting up, we though initially we weren't on the X. But after we had shot 15 birds in the first hour (which involved moving the decoys twice), we suddenly were looking at a pretty good day for four guys.
We ended with 21, 7 short of a full measure, since we ran out of water and time.
Wow, what a day. Most of the birds were picked out of flocks. Our shooting was on too. It all just worked. The dog got a little confused at times with all the birds on the water.
Anyway, pic to come.
Oh, and really, this weekend was epic. We had an engagement announced, a pregnancy announced, strained birds straps, and a band. Yah, Ruben shot a band on Saturday, the last bird, his first band. Woo Hoo!!!
Thanks guys for the memories! Time to start eating fresh bird again!!!
