Default Wooldridge boats...your opinion

I am thinking of buying a Wooldridge boat for fishing the Sound.
I am particularly interested in their 17' super sport with a 90hp Yamaha.
Looks like a solid boat with lots for stern room.

Let's hear your opinions and other suggestions.

I'd buy fiberglass if you are only going to fish the sound. Wooldridge boats are good especially in outboard models if you are running a jet. I'd look at Arimas for a similar boat in fiberglass.

I have a 22' Sport 2000 with a 225 honda and the offshore bracket. I demo'd the 17 with 90 jet and was very impressed with it, just a little small for what I do, so started looking up the line. Pleased with the fit and finish and overall quality. I think they build as good a boat as any of em'. The Zolotone inside is done very well and has held up great being mored without a cover in the Central Oregon sun. They tend to be a little more $ than other brands, but I think the extra initial cost is well worth it. Glen was accomidating thru the whole process. I had mine stretched 2 feet and widened, custom tower and seating. All mods were done for a reasonable cost with very little complaining from the factory. Its a long way to go for factory service, but if you live in Seattle, No Problemo! Good luck

frnd of mine has a 25' PH by them, he uses it in the salt. He had it rigged elsewhere as they (Glen) refused to use tinned wire. Dunno if they still show the river roots that hard, but it is something I would check - and insist on - before buying a boat for saltwater duty. Another thing I have noticed with them is the VERY exposed wiring and rigging aft. Just something to be aware of and maintain well if you want stuff to live and work for long.
