Default Cured Herring Question

I have heard that people will take the frozen herring and cure them in something that makes them a lot more firm and brings out the color. What is that?

Try a cup of pickleing salt( non iodized ) and 2 cups of powdered milk to a quart of water.
put your herring in and cover with crushed ice start this process the day before you fish to get the full effect. You can also add blueing to the mix.

Scott Haugen is going to have a book out this year on bait cures, I can't wait, I enjoyed his egg cure book. You can read about it at scotthaugen.com
under the books tab.
