Default Any luck on Hermiston Pheasant/Quail

Has anyone been up to hermiston for upland yet or does anyone know if the BIRD counts are any good.

We were up in that area opening weekend and didn't see much of anything.

Yes, we were on public land. Jumped a couple of quail and a grouse up at Coombs Canyon south of Pendleton. We kicked the crop circles out of Boardman, but didn't see a thing.

NO!!! No news is not good news.

We have access to some great pheasant ground outside of Hermiston and this year there were VERY few birds around. Last year there seemed to be a fair amount around, but this year, it's dropped to nearly nothing. Deer numbers were way down as well.

Two of us were in Pendleton opening weekend

limits each day...private ground...wild birds...

the landowner takes pride in leaving good ground and limited pressure for the birds

but there was definitely less birds than last year
