Default How to use Subscriptions (Used to be favorites)

How to use Subscriptions

To set the default for all subscribed threads:

Go to your user CP
Select Edit Options
Scroll down to
Default Thread Subscription Mode
"When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
Default Thread Subscription Mode:"

Select what you want to happen to every thread that you post to.
Most people will not want to subscribe to all, so my default is "do not subscribe".
People who post rarely might want to subscribe, or get a weekly e mail updating them.
Daily updates are a pain both on ifish and your mail server.

Now, if you post to a single thread and want to keep up or subscribe to it, do this:

Click on a thread that you want to subscribe to, or post to it.
Then: Go up to the top menu and find thread tools. A drop down menu will appear. Select "Subscribe to this thread"
A new page will pop up where you can select how you would like to be subscribed or notified about this individual thread.

When you have selected your option, (Weekly, daily e mail, whatever...) hit "Add subscription".

Now, to unsubscribe, follow the same procedure as above, on that thread and choose to unsubscribe, or:
To mass handle your subscriptions:

Go back to your user CP.
Scroll down to "subscribed threads"
and List Subscriptions.
Select which ones you want to delete by checking the tick box and then go down to the drop down menu which decides what action you want to take with them.
You can mass delete all subscriptions by selecting the top tick box, which selects them all, and then use the drop down menu below it to select "delete" and then "Go fish!"
This will delete them all.
You can also select certain ones and whatever you've selected, then delete.

It's easier than it sounds. I just took every step to explain it to you!
Jen

Note: When you are subscribed to a particular thread, and you are looking at the list of threads on the forum view, you will see a small blue check mark in the column before the date and last person who posted, if you are subscribed to a thread.

I will post this on LIG and pin it for a while.
