Default How to measure the chine on your boat

I need the exact measurement of the chine on my boat. I believe that it is the bottom of the boat, measured from side to side, correct! Thanks

The chine is the edge/angle where the side of your boat meets the bottom of the boat. Unfortunately, because of various boat designs, where your boat chine begins and ends may be different than the chine on another make or model.

For example, on many aluminum jet sleds and drift boats, the chine is very obvious, and runs from the bow to the transom. On other types of boats, the chine is less defined, and on a round bottom sailboat, I've not a clue where the side and bottom meet.

You may need to make a call to the business that needs the exact chine measurement. They should be able to help you figure out where to measure.

If you are wanting the chine "beam" measurement, Shorelander shows this diagram for measurement. Usually this measurement is used to size boat width to trailers:

Thanks for the info. I decides that I will just go thru the trailer manufacture for what I need. That way they have all the measurements needed.
