Cheap Wader Protectors
Anybody see "Oregon Field Guide" on OPB Sunday? It had a segment that featured Lenox Dick "the dean of the Deschutes fly fisherman" and Tom McAllister fishing the Deschutes. Great eye candy.
But what really caught my eye was Len's use of a pair of Khaki's over his self-described "cheap" waders. He said he never gets holes in them anymore. Looked like a really good idea especially for my lightweight breathables going through the woods. Anybody ever try that?
(Who'd of thunk my idea of "eye candy" would ever be watching two old guys fishin) life is funny

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
I saw that episode last year. It was a good one, wasn't that the one where they showed them motoring across the river to there little shack? I like the khaki's idea, I may try this summer. Yep, I think I will. Thanks for reminding me about that.

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
We used and old pair of blue jeans (one or two sizes larger than you normally wear) over seal dry's (a light weight latex wader) in the 70's and 80's to protect them from tearing. A small tear usually meant a new pair as they usually where ripped open like today's latex gloves.
A year or two someone on the bb asked how to protect the light wt. breathable waders as he was tearing them walking through the brush. Several suggestions where offered.

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
Why cheap waders Capt. Kujo? Must be my frugal nature .
Besides, I gotta save my pennies so I can ride the rocket!
(that is some sweet looking gear though and the price ain't bad at all)

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
I am not trying to protect my cheap waders, I am trying to protect my expensive ones. I don't want to have to lay out the money for another pair of those for sometime.

I use lightweight nylon rain pants for protectors. They don't get as heavy when they get wet. Another thing, If I get Rocketwear, do I still need waders?

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
Rainsuit bottoms over the waders work nicely when commando-style fishing.

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
Thanks Capt Kujo, Is USIA going to have a booth at the Sportsman's Show? If not I'll check out the Rocketwear at Joe's. Thanks, Salmurai...

Re: Cheap Wader Protectors
I wear a pair of nylon camo rain paints over my waders. Lightweight and I look cool.
