Re: Puppies
When they're little bitty and up until about six months, I keep them crated by themselves with plenty of safe toys. I get to stop by the house on breaks and lunches, so pup is never crated more than a few hours. This has helped quite a bit with potty training, as pup gets put directly outside after being removed from the crate. After a few weeks of this, no more indoor potty worries.
When pup gets big enough he/she can generally hold their own with the other dogs, they get put outside immediately after their morning feed and kenneled up in a covered 6x12' concrete floored cyclone fenced kennel, where they spend the entirety of the day.
During the evenings, the dogs are allowed inside for a few hours of socialization. I can't imagine having all four of them running loose at all times indoors. Talk about a recipe for divorce!
