Default Oil Pressure Light

I am the farthest thing in the world from a mechanic, but I need a little advice. I have a Suzuki 150 outboard on my Seahawk. The oil light came on towards the end of my last trip. However the oil level is fine and the color is good. I just had full service done on it about 15 hours ago. The boat and engine are new, only about 35 hours on it.

Any thoughts?

Bad sender, bad gauge, bad wiring, or low oil pressure (which would be bad).

If it were my boat, I'd hook up a mechanical gauge to see what the pressure actually is.

Low hours, its still under warrantee? take it in. My honda oil light was messing up, it was a loose battery cable connection. Wrong viscosity oil maybe.

Was the oil light blinking? if so this is an oil change reminder light and is based on an internal clock that should have been reset with the oil change.

There is a process outlined in the owners manual that involves turning on the key and pulling out on the kill button three times.

If it is a low oil pressure situation the light should be steady and there should be a warning horn in addition to the steady light.
