Default Deicer research

I did some research on the deicer odot uses on our roads. What the deicer consists of is magnesium chloride which they say is corrosive   . The reason probly it causes pitting in aluminum is because chloride is an igredient in salt or a form of salt. We all know what salt can do to aluminum. Can this corrosive be stopped by just having zincs mounted on your boat??????

Has anyone tried to turn in a bill for repairs to the state.
When damage occurs to a vehicle, in my city, due to conditions caused by actions of the city they will often pay for the repairs.
Even if they won't pay for it you might feel better when you send them a bill. I know I would.

Corky, I think the state would deny the claim. You would have to prove some negligence on ther part. They are merely trying to provide a safe road surface for the majority of all drivers. Minor nicks and dents to a boat would not be considered damage but routine wear on your vehicle. I think gravel is worse and just try to not tow my boat in these conditions. Big rocks, and gravel thrown from passing cars and trucks do lots of damage. I was actually up in wa last week following one of their applicator trucks and was impressed with the road surface. I hate the gravel.
