Default How fast will I go?

Well I made the switch to a jet pump rig. I just bought an older 16 ft Gregor with a 70hp Johnson that has a jet pump on it. I've not even put it in the water yet. I took it stright to the shop to have it serviced and checked out befor I drop it in the river. I know you lose 30% of your HP when you go to the jet. I was hoping some of you fellows with similar rigs might tell me what top speed I might could expect.

25-26 mph tops, possibly 24 mph? That's what I would guess based on experience.

Another question from a green horn. How much fuel will I burn in an hour with this rig?

About 10 GPH at full throttle.

Good Luck

OK.. that tells me what I need to know. I'm installing a 18 gallon fuel tank on it soooo... I should be able to run up river for about an hour before I need to turn around. Am I think right here?

Yes; A hour should take you about twenty five miles at full throttle. If you are going up river against a strong current your land speed would be less and the distance would be less. And you could use less fuel going down river with the current. It all adds up to 10 GPH per hour at full throttle. Considering all the variables.

You can always carry a extra 5 gallions in a spare container if you feel like your trip needs it.
Good Luck;

You don`t need to travel at WOT all the time, just a slight back off of the throttle will save you a lot.

Will be determined by load in the boat,river current speed,and throttle setting if you are running a river like the lower D.

Sounds like fun!
