Default Dryer disposal

Anyone know where I can get rid of a dryer? I think the heating element went out on it.

If it was me, I'd try putting on/near the curb for a couple of nights....should dispose of itself.

Otherwise list it on craigslist....someone will gladly take it off your hands.

Your neighbors front yard

Most waste management facilities will take them off your hands for a few bucks.

Your local recyling center should take it for free. Or try an appliance store. Or as above, in C.L. under the free listings section.

RBF,

If it is just the heating element, you might have a go at fixing it. They are just about a plug and play kind of repair in many cases. I have fixed a couple of them myself and you would be surprised to see how simple a dryer is to repair.

I'm with Orion. I was surprised how easy it was when economics forced me to give it a try. Think of it as if you have nothing to lose (you're tossing it anyways). Just remember to replace the belt while you have it apart. It's a $5 part but requires most of the disassembly.

I agree with trying the repair. I've done several dryer elements myself. I even put in a new morot. They're not all that difficult to work on. If not, there may be a used appliance shop near you that would take it off your hands.

Check your paper for your local scrap man. Can't you recyle it at the local transfer station for free?

Does your disposal company have a spring and winter free drop off day. Where I live it is usually april and nov. in fact Nov. 4th this year. Cityb resident only I think. Date comes in our city monthly news letter or check online.
