Default Dealing with Guilt

I struggle daily with guilt. I know that I am forgiven for my sins, but struggle constantly, knowing the things I have done in my past. Nothing illegal or anything, just the sins of my past.
Any thoughts???

Remember your past with out guilt (learn from your mistakes), live the rest of your life as a good person. Every day try to do something good.

Two thoughts:

1. Paul wrote "forgetting those things which are behind, I press on for the mark, the prize, the high calling of God in Christ Jesus"
-Refuse to dwell on negative memories when they pop into your mind
-Follow the example of Joseph as 2d in command in Egypt when his brothers came looking for help. He could have been harsh, or vindictive. He could have punsihed them severely for what they had done to him....but he didn't. What was his secret? He had 2 sons Ephraim and Manasseh. Mnasseh means "causes to forget" Ephraim means "double fruit". I think he just chose to look at his two kids and think I'm going forward because they cause me to forget the painful past.
The application for you would be to surround yourself in Church with a "Manasseh' or two who can help you to forget the past and travel on.

2. Understand the scope of redemption. Read Romans 8. You will find that God has justified you. God refuses to bring any charge against you. Their are 23 things listed in that chapter, and none of them can separate you from the love of God. As it turns out, you are the only one who can successfully "bring a charge" against yourself. This is self-impeachment. Don't do it.
The question is asked "who shall rescue me from this body of death? Answer: Jesus has

This come from a latin phrase Re-more. Our word remorse comes from that root. In Roman punishment, one of the things they would do to a murderer was tie the body of his victim to his back and leave it there while it decayed and finally until the man himself died. The Scripture is saying "don't tie yourself back to the sins of your past" because it will destroy you.

Hope this helps

I have a similar problem. Remember, that your sins have created a neurological pattern in your brain. This can take awhile to overcome, if it can be overcome. It can be used to your benefit, however, if you use it as a reminder, an edification. You know what you did, you know what God has forgiven you. Do you think Mary Magdelene ever forgot what she had done? Not a chance. But she did know what God had forgiven her. Remember what God has forgiven you. Let that spur you on to greater service of God.

Remember there is another force at work against you, satan. He is dragging you down that road of guilt everyday. Resist the devil and he will flee.... Give this over to Jesus, the only thing you can do. Look to Jesus only, talk to Him and give Him everything! Then when you have given Him everything, make sure you have!
