Default Cleaning outboards

The outside of my motors have some crud and 2 cycle film on them in spots, as well as dirty old grease. The inside (under the cowl) has goop as well, mostly 2 cycle film but bugs and other crud that makes it's way under the hood.

I would assume any degreaser would work and disconnecting the battery is a must. Also, not blasting water down the carb is a no-brainer.

Anything else I'm overlooking?

Lemon joy, a rag and a brush? Run it when you are done to dry it out. Follow up with WD or some other water displacing anti corrosive spray.

WD40 spray on, wipe off, couple days later follow up with Pledge.
