Lost our Puppy

I'm sitting here dumbfounded. Hours ago I found our 4-1/2 mo old black lab puppy Rascal dead in our garage from a freak accident. Although a family dog, it had adopted my 11 year old son and he was doing an awesome job of returning the love and quite a good job of training it. We had planned on having it trained for his 1st Duck hunt.

We have all had a good cry and are mourning in our own ways. I don't know what to tell my 2 boys. What strange path has the Lord placed in front of us?

Forgive me for unloading on you all but I don't know what to say or do. I am sick with heavy heart.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Pets become part of a family just the way a child does. The loss of any loved pet weights heavy on our minds. Remember the good times you experienced from your puppy and hold those thoughts close to your heart.

Life is not easy when things like this happened but the sadness will pass with time. God bless you and your family for holding a special place in your heart for Rascal.

My kids bawled when the goldfish died. It's gotta be a lot worse with a puppy. Yet it can be a lesson in how fragile and how valuable life is. Not a pleasant one, but a lesson still. I think God gave us pets to teach us about life. They can be lessons in love, in responsibility, and inevitably, in loss.

Thanks for the support everyone.

We buried Rascal yesterday afternoon with a few friends around for support. This was the 1st death my kids have had to deal with and like some said, I guess it is a learning experience in life. Many of my sons classmates called to give their condolences. It really is an amazing world the way support comes to those that need it.

The only thing I could come up with to tell them was that there must be a new little boy in heaven that God thought needed a good puppy and Rascal was that dog.

I think we have closure at our house although the sadness is far from gone. We will move on from here and another puppy will be in the near future.

When I found my pet Rat Daphnie dead in her cage. I did not know what to do. She was so friendly and loved to play in my hair. When she sat on my shoulder. She loved to lick my fingers a lot. It just horrified me to find her. I was sad for two days. I thought I was kind of over it but I was looking at a picture we took of her. The first day we got her. I started to cry. Even though it is just a rat but she was very special to me. We got a new one. She is very cute. Her name is Dorie. Telling Daniel felt like a very hard thing to do. He is only 5 years old. I told him that Daph died and she is no longer with us any more. He asked where she went? I told him that she got sick and just died. Daddy had to put her body in a box and put her in the dumpster. As I write this I think of her and start to cry. ;-( He said he was said but asked if we could get a new one. I told I was sorry that his little friend died. He told me that it was ok and that God will make me happy again.

Kids speak such truth.

I will keep your Family in my prayers that when you do get a new dog that it will be one just for you and your family.

So sorry for your loss. The loss of a pet seems to take forever to get over. Finding a new puppy will bring joy. You will never replace a loved pet.A new puppy will bring new joy to your family in there own special way .
