Prayers for my youngest fisnin\' buddy
I was raised in a traditional, formal, religious family.
In my college years, after reading too many tales of the political and financial evolution of the "established" religions, I grew somewhat cynical and apart from my original religion.
Those doubts remain, although I'm just as "spiritual" as ever. I've just been doing my worshipping at the "First Holy Church of the Old Growth Forest and Miracle of the Returning Salmon" -- or something like that.
My 4-month-old grandson, Alex, the twin of his minutes-older, dominant sister, Ava, (Think Lucy and Charlie Brown,) will be undergoing open heart surgery tomorrow. The experts call it "routine." I'm old enough that the idea of detaching a baby's heart, stopping it, slicing it almost in half, patching it like a bicycle innertube, then putting it all back together again, is somehow less "routine" than my typical day.
Though my prayers don't take the traditional form or words, and I don't know which form yours take, I'd truly appreciate them.
Beginner Grandpa.

Re: Prayers for my youngest fisnin\' buddy
Update: Alex's surgery is finished. The three-hour entire process went as planned, with no unpleasant surprises.
Parents and grandparents and great-grandparents seem to be surviving as well.
Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts, words, and prayers.

Re: Prayers for my youngest fisnin\' buddy
Final update:
I just received a late call. My grandson is a grinnin' chowhound and is going home tomorrow!
Personally, I've always found a lot of gray area between "miracles," the "power of prayer," and the "power of positive thinking."
Thanks once more to all those who promised their thoughts and prayers to a future fisherman (Shoot, he's four months old and I haven't bought him and his twin sister fishing rods yet! Some grandfather! )
Thanks, all. You may count on my own mutant prayers in your time of need.
Color me happy.

Re: Prayers for my youngest fisnin\' buddy
No prayer, when the intention is good, is "mutant". God knows you. He knows our struggles and limitations. I'm sure he'll correct the spelling on our prayers if need be.
