custody
Friday afternoon. Loaded and ready to head to the Deschutes for prime winter chrome.Friday 4:25
Ex-wife calls and says, "it's your turn, I give up he is going to live with you now."My, how plans change. Thankfully I had today off to arrange for daycare, go to the Wash.co court house to change child suport order(3 hour tour)
Now trying to figure how to change a 2 bed house to 3, just re-fyd.w/pay off penalty. If I sell I lose, if I add on, I lose. Stuck, with no where to go. I have a headache, need a beer.
Our three family changed to four in less than 24 hours.
My 5 year old son is better off here, but holy upset cow disease. Wasn't ready for this one.
I am commited to making a change for the better, but must either add on to the house or sell and take it in the shorts for a bigger home.
My new drift boat will be here in a week.

Lord help me.

Re: custody
Build a shed in the back and convert your garage! I know folks who have had to do it. I wish my ex would do what yours did. I'm jealous....That kid needs you especially now since he's likely to feel rejected by his mother. Its a sad situation and one that I have lots of experience with. I wouldnt worry about money or moving. Smother that kid with affection get the whole family behind this 100 percent. If mom is serious about giving up custody, cover your posterior and get some paperwork drawn up PRONTO. You can file for a temporary custody order through the court system as long as you physically have custody at this point. My dream just happened to you. I wish I were in your shoes right now.

Re: custody
B-run;
Is your other child a boy or girl? If boy, bunk beds are the cure. If Girl of same age as your son you might just Hang a curtian to split the room. Thats the way I had to live till I was about 8. didn't kill me or my sister.
I will pray for your family .

Re: custody
First priority: your son, at his age, needs to hear the message that he's "Priority Number One." You don't think that he's noticed that he's been rejected/thrown out of the home he's known? Try to repair that injury. Make it clear to him that his arrival is the best thing in the world, for both of you. You won't be sorry.
You may need some innovative thinking in your living arrangements, as has been said before. I bought a house in which the previous foster father had installed a bunk bed in the middle of the room, attached inexpensive wall paneling to the top of one side of the bed, extending to the ceiling, and to the other side at the bottom. Each kid had a bed-with-a-wall-at-the-back, facing opposite directions. It created a virtual wall in the middle of the room and gave both of them semi-private bedrooms.
The process of integrating your son into your home could cost you, in the short term, a bit of fishing time. Bummer, but your son is more important.
Or, on the other hand, you might have just acquired a new best fishing buddy.
I know for sure that my favorite fishing photos aren't the ones in which I was "holding a huge fish." They're the ones in which my 7-year-old son was holding a gorgeous 13-inch brook trout -- the largest of the day; or, perhaps, the one in which my 3-year-old daughter was proudly holding up a stringer of Willamette River ********* (OK, this was years before the new, politically correct name was invented) as if they were steelhead with winning lottery tickets attached.
Good luck.

Re: custody
Thanks for all the support folks.
We are going to add on to the house.
I have a few buddies that are contractors and framers, and I am an electrician, so the cost will not be as bad as I had thought.
My step daughter is 10, so my wife is not thinking sharing a room with her is a good idea.
We turned our computer/christmas storage stuff room into his temp bedroom for now.
Got paperwork done through court house for temp custody and stopping child support.
It's great to have him!And he is happier here it apperars. And my he loves fishing. He caught his first springer at the channel last year trolling with me, 18#.
So, thanks again.
Gregg
