Default "Plastic" decking boards for bunks

Hi everyone ! I am rebuilding my boat trailer, and am wondering if anyone has used the for lack of better words plastic decking boards for there bunks? I looked at it a few years ago and it seamed like it was slick when it got wet and it shouldn't rot. It would be great not to have to hassel with carpet or the expence of UHMW. thanx much

I have what appears to be plastic decking material on the bunks of my Rogue trailer. Alumaweld replaced it once because it cracked and broke where it was mounted. They told me they had some problems when it was mounted without enough expansion and contraction space around the mounting bolts. They drill an oversize hole and then recess a large flat washer into a counter sunk hole to hold it in place. I also noticed that it supported front to back from below with an upside down "c" channel type material. The theory is good, as long as you allow enough room for expansion and contraction during annual temperature swings, there is not much else to go wrong with it.

Good luck!

I asked about it once and was told it is not a good idea the decking boards are recycled and have other abrasive material in them. But I don't know this to be true it is just what I was told check it out good.

I've got a Rogue trailer too, and it has the "plastic" rails. I've never had a problem with them in over 4 years.

And they're plenty slick when I'm cranking up the boat, even fully loaded.... Just my
