Default wma to mp3

Ok, the more I read on this, the more confused I get. I have 1,000's of songs in my Windows Media Player library so this makes them WMA type files. I recently bought a small (512 mb) Sandisk "mp3" or "portable music device". On the box it says it holds approx 240 songs on WMA or 120 songs of MP3. This would mean that mp3 files are larger right? If this is the case, how are people putting 200 songs in MP3 format on one CD and playing it in their vehicle? A CD is something like 700 MB so I guess I should be able to figure it out, but got lost somewhere in my research. I hear of people doing this but have gotten no real answer on what I need to do to do this.

I guess my question is, how do I get 200 songs on a CD?

I'm sure I will have more questions as I get an answer or two.

Thanks

Its really hard to get 200 songs on a 700 meg CD. The average song is 4-6mb which means 100-120 songs on a CD. That is a lot of music, so I wouldn't worry about it!

I think it depends on the type of CD player the person has in their vehicle. I have a newer Alpine and I've copied 200+ songs onto a CD and play it just fine in my truck.

The way I did it was copy all the songs onto the CD as you would data files. I put a CD title as a folder and then I have to scroll through the folders on my CD player. Similar to playlist on a mp3 player.

I hope this makes some sense. If not PM me.

Ok, I've always burned with my windows media player which burns audio Cd's which makes it 80 minutes long. I went to my Nero burner and created a data CD in which I put 100 or so songs and burned them. Popped into my trucks CD player....and... NO GO. Oh well, get that out of my mind for awhile.

Thanks guys

You have to have an MP3 deck to play mp3s. Most stock or older CD players won't play MP3s...

Don't look at how many songs will fit, as that is not an accurate number. How long is the song? The better rule of thumb with your 128kbit/sec mp3s is that the file size is about a megabyte per minute of music. So the average 4 minute song will be 4 megabytes in size. A 700MB CD will hold roughly 700 minutes of mp3 music.
