My son -- just recieved his orders for his first deployment. Though he will be in Okinawa for 2 months, the 10 months after that will be in Iraq.
I was very proud when he enlisted and his graduation from boot was a very proud moment. But now as the reality of his choices have set in -- Dad is worried. He has been trained to handle it, and as a Marine, has the dedication to duty to deal with it --
My real concern is that he maintain his Christian walk and remain centered in God's will during this difficult time.

My prayers and the prayers of my family will be with you and your son every day until we hear of his safe return. GOD bless! We appreciate what he is doing.
A quick update -- My sons unit -- 1st Marine Exeditionary Unit Bravo Co -- will be by-passing Okinawa and going straight to Iraq -- supposedly to the Syrian Border -- As I understand the use of the MEU -- border patrol isn't what they are trained for -- They are a "First Strike" unit-- so I'm sort of puzzled --
Thanks folks for the prayers -- when I told Zach about it he was surprised and very greatful --- well and maybe a little embarassed about the fuss--
