Default Trolling for springers

I know that trolling herring for springers works
great when tide is not ripping out, but I haven't done the cut plug herring thing by myself usually go with a couple of guys that have always hooked up the herring deal since they fish 100 times more then I do. When the tide changes I will be anchoring up and K-fishing it. I plan on hitting the river more this year then I have in the past and wondering about spinners which ones work the best, I have trolled spinners for fall fish and have done well. With very little time to spend on river I don't feel I have the time to spend learning the herring gig.

I have stopped "rigging" herring altogether and exclusively use the new herring clips. It simply clips on to their nose, has a lip on the side to create the perfect roll and hooks built into it so that you don't have to man handle the fish at all.

As for spinners, I know people that use them frequently but I prefer k-fish and wobblers.

Hook,

I have a couple of those things, and some written info on how to do the deed...I noticed from your profile you are in the same general area I am in...so if you like drop me a pm I would be happy to go over this stuff with you, and give you one of those plastic make it easy jobs if you like.

It takes a little practice, but no harder than tying your shoes i think.

Hook...I did well with Flash Glos a couple years back during low water. The fish sucked them up, bigtime.

I'd start with the nickle #124, and try the other NON WEIGHTED colors, or perhaps the 134's which are a bit bigger. Best time was at the top of the incoming tide and the turn out. And it was in your area.
