Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
I was just checking out "weather bug", and it say's 10-15 inches for the coastal and cascade foothills. Sounds like the snow bomb is about to fall on us. I love the snow , but I hope everyone stays safe in it. Carfull driving the roads everyone.
EDIT: Sorry, I edited your title, so that we will have just one snow thread on ifish for the day.
Thanks!
Jen

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
The 3 to 5 inches predicted for yesterday didn't show up. The 3 to 5 predicted for today hasn't shown up. The 18 degree temperature hasn't shown up. I think the forecasts for the last week have been the worst I've ever experienced.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Since when does it ever snow when they predict it to. It was supposed to rain last Thursday however it snowed. We were supposed to get three inches yesterday and 3 inches last night.
Since snow is predicted for tommorow it probably won't.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Willamina, Sheridan area has been getting light snow today off and on. The big hit is supposed to be overnight tonight and on through tomorrow night and Tuesday. Sounds like we are finally going to have a bug killer winter. Hope it kills a bunch off anyway, I do not care much for mosquitos & flys. It is currantly 28 deggrees here, and dropping fast. The hils are no longer visable now either, I think it is fog though.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Temp in Woodland at 1:00 PM was 34 degrees.
Now at 4:45 PM it is 29.
If that moister pushes over the top from the West things could get nasty.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Pete, don't be that way! I prayed for snow, and look what happened! It snowed! I think the weather people should just ask me what I've been praying for, lately, then do the forecast. I'm feeling pretty sassy about that.
You will all be relieved that I am now praying for warm and sunny weather, now. Someone call Rhonda and let her know... Sunny and 89 next week!
I am sorry for the inconvenience you have all experienced, but I do love snow.
I'm just really cold, right now, so it's time for a change!

Yeah, Yeah, I heard all this before. Thats when Tuna Breath and I hit the Wilson New Years Day. No problem there and no problem home. I try not to let the weather guessers ruin my outdoor experiences.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Well it is 4:30am and no snow yet. But it is only 20 deggrees outside. The storm alert is now saying "late monday, on through tuesday night" and is saying we are in for hazardous winter storm weather. Just going by what wheather bug says.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Let's keep an eye on the snow, and where it is starting. I edited the thread title.
Maybe I'll let the weather people at the TV stations know this is going on, so that when it starts snowing in different areas, they will know!
It will be fun to track the storm, this way!
At 5:44 AM, we as yet have no precipitation. It is 30 degrees outside, and partly cloudy.

OK--
Snowing hard on the Kilchis right now. It's 7:04, and the kids are groaning as they climb the hill to the school bus. I bet they'll be home in a couple hours!
This is silly!
Go to school, come home...
Oh well, at least I get a 3 hour reprieve!

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Yesterday morning we took the old F-250 up to Bald mt. (up above the top the Big Nestucka) there was about 3ft up there. If it doe's warm up later this week like they say we will have some flood waters on our hands. Sure is cold out, and still alot of very fine snow falling, plus it is blowing all over the place also. Gota love it while it's here.

Tigard 9:00 Snowing lightly. Please pray this thaws slowly,
This reminds me of Feb 1996 when our house flooded. I don't want to go through that again. 38K worth of damage and 4 month to rebuild.

17 degrees with blowing snow here at the mouth to the scenic Columbia River Gorge. Brrrr!
We have those little 'snow snakes' wipping across the street. We are gonna end up with drifts before it covers anything.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Floods are bad news for alot of people, we are luky to own a home high (about 300ft) above the flood line. Best thing would be to warm to about 45 in the vally and hold for about 2 weeks so it does not all melt at once.

With all the snow we have in the hills around here and the rainy forecast for the rest of the week, we could be setting up for another terrible time here in Tillamook. I pray NOT!
I've seen a vew light flakes whip by, it's windy here and around 24 right now.
Hey Dipnet, I went to school there but, that was a long time ago!

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Just had about 30 minutes of good snow here in Canby. Truck showed 23 degrees when I got home about an hour ago. Now just small flakes blowing around. I grew up in the far corner of NE Portland. Hit my parents house up for lunch, and man I sure don't miss that east wind! It's colder than all get out with that wind chill. If we get snow like they are saying, there will be some flooding. I was at OSU in 96 and remember going up to Mary's Peak about 3 days before the rains hit. If I remember correctly, there was about 3-5 ft. of snow up there. Could get ugly if the snowpack right now is on par with that. Checked out Alsea falls during the flooding and it looked like a class 10 rapid, crazy.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
It's now 14 degrees, and the snow is coming down pretty good. Flakes are still fairly small, but has increased a bunch from earlier.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
We maxed out at about 19 degrees around 300pm. We are down to 16 now at 550 feet above sea level.
This is from the Oregon Climate Service (NOAA)...
.TONIGHT...SNOW...MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES. A CHANCE OF FREEZING RAIN
LATE. WINDY. SNOW ACCUMULATION 2 TO 3 INCHES. LOWS 25 TO 30. EAST
WIND 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.
Call me crazy, but the low is going to be a heck of a lot lower than 25-30.
My forecast is for continued really cold and its going to snow a whole bunch! The snow will continue until Wednesday morning.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
Here's my forecast: continued snow job from the weather service. No sign of subsiding until late July. We can put a man on the moon and a rover on mars, but we can't tell what the weather will be tomorrow.

ORS...
Here is the latest update for tonite from the climate service. (Notice the change in the low, they must read ifish...or bothered to look at the thermometer) ...
.TONIGHT...SNOW...MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES. A CHANCE OF FREEZING RAIN
LATE. WINDY. SNOW ACCUMULATION 2 TO 3 INCHES. LOWS 15 TO 25. EAST
WIND 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.
I just checked the radar and the largest band of light precip is moving onshore just south of Tbay.

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
No snow as of 7:14.... I am so bummed. I'm beginning to think it will snow all night, then I'll get up to rain slog.
:depressed:
Will that happen? If it does, I'm going back to bed to cry. :depressed:

Re: Winter Storm Warning, Let us know! SNOW?
OK, here's the latest forecast:
TONIGHT...CLEAR SKIES...WINDY AT TIMES. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF MICHAEL JACKSON GETTING OFF ON ACCOUNT OF PASTINESS....POSSIBLE COW PIE ACCUMULATION 2 TO 3 INCHES HIGHER THAN NORMAL. LOWS BETWEEN 0 TO 85. WINDS CALM, AT LEAST UNTIL AFTER 3 BEAN CHILI DINNER. THEN TAKE COVER!!!
