Thanks for the postings and stuff
Well, I have been in Chicago now for a while but I have been able to read all the Tuna, halibut, and salmon posts so the Jonesing has been contained. I look forward to a little trip next summer to taste that great salt air again!
I really think that they need to start a hatcery program for albacore in the Great Lakes, similar to the one that gave Oregon salmon fishing to Michigan and Illinois! I have fished the Great Lakes salmon this year, and it was lots of fun. Smaller fish and no salt, but fun. See you all next summer....maybe even for a TA meeting!
Chicago transplant, Dave

Great to hear from you, WP! And glad to hear you still get to chase fish once in a while.
When you come out next summer I'll bet there will be twenty guys offering you a seat, but I want to beat them all to it. You've got a seat on the Irish Wake anytime you can get to town! Guaranteed!
Just let me know when you're headed west.

Re: Thanks for the postings and stuff
Good to hear from you Dave. I heard your old boat has been going out and kicking "But" pretty regularly. The two times they invited me I had other plans. I don't know if Tuna could live in those big freshwater lakes, but I never understood why they didn't transplant Beluga Sturgeon in them many years ago. You better start buttoning down the hatches. The winters on the lakes are something else!!

Re: Thanks for the postings and stuff
Hey Ed! There is sturgeon here...though they are completely protected. I will have to take Jim up on his offer next summer and get out for some long fins. I am going to Alaska for a week of fishing in July and thought...the Oregon coast is sooo close to my route! At any rates I do plan on visiting at least once...hope to see you then. I have fond memories from our adventures and look forward to more someday. How is the leg? I just had surgery on the left knee, hope that helps me walk easier.
See ya soon, Dave

Dave,
Glad to here from ya. I try to go out at least once a week when the conditions allow. Anyways, glad you and Jo are doing well in the Windy City. As you know, You are always welcome on "your" boat.

Thanks Michael,
I am glad you are getting some good use from the old girl! I still miss her and all the fun I had fishing her. Tantrum served me well and hopefully will do the same for you!

Re: Thanks for the postings and stuff
Dave,
Glad to hear things are going well. I saw Michael and Scott Hansell fishing your old boat up in Astoria in June. A also got in on a tuna trip with Chris Paresa. What a blast!
I have a subscription to In Fisherman which has lots of info from your neck of the woods. I suppose you will be targeting Muskie, Bass and Pike before it's all over!
I know a hard core like you will fish for anything that bites!

Re: Thanks for the postings and stuff
Hi Dave. I heard they have sturgeon up there, but they don't grow very big. The knees are okay. They act up whenever they feel like it, but most of the time their bearable. Alaska in July sounds like fun. Too bad my brother in law moved from Anchorage to South Dakota when he retired last year. Hope your knee works better after the surgery. The only thing they want to do with mine is replace them. My dad had that done on one knee & he hated it the rest of his life! I definitely had a lot of good memories fishing with you. Hope to see you again - soon.
,Ed
