Laser Eye Surgery
I am going in today to get a looksie at whether I am a candidate for laser eye surgery. I am curious of others experience with this. Wouldn't mind know what you paid either if you don't mind sharing that info.
Thanks!

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Thanks Flap, I did a search and got nothing, guess I either didn't go back far enough, or didn't use the right keywords.
Thanks!

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
petermac- I had the surgery about three years ago. I believe I paid $2200 total including after care. It was money well spent. If you can swing it I highly recomend it.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done about three years ago at Will Vision. Paid around 1800.00 i think. Very highly recommend it. I was very happy, i still see great, it was a quick thing to do. Also great fishing on cold wet mornings and being able to see, no more dirty and foggy glasses. Also i think it greatly raised my self asteem!

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I have been contemplating this myself but am waiting because I work in front of a computer screen for way too many hrs a day at work. This make your eyes go back to needing glasses after a few years. There are quite a few people where I work who had the surgery and are back wearing glasses. I am waiting a few more year for the crystal lenses to be main stream. Crystal lenses have no vision changes after the surgery.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
My mom had it done two years ago. No problems or concerns. It also got out of the huge glasses that she wore!

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done about 8 years ago in Vancouver Canada. At the time, I thought they had the most experience and used the most recent equipment that was not approved by the FDA at that time. I had good results and would do it again. However, if I were to do it today, I would go to the Casey Eye institute at OHSU. They are perhaps more expensive, but this is your vision you are working with. I will have to use reading glasses someday as most of us will after 50. As I recall, I paid about $1000 for the proceedure in Canada. It took about 20 minutes of which only 50 seconds were with laser.
Best of success!

The one thing people should understand is that even with lasik surgery you might still need reading glasses. It doesn't correct for a lens that becomes less flexible with age. I was told that most people develop the need for reading glasses between 45 and 50 some years old regardless of wether you have lasik surgery or not.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Well, I just returned from the Lasik center in Vancouver. they said that my eyes were very correctable, and the price seems about right. They were very thorough with regard to my expectations and the reading glasses deal, I am 45 years old, so I am right in that age where the close up stuff is becoming and issue.
I go in Saturday, and can say good bye to the glasses! This will be great for just about every thing I do: Snowboard, cycle, water sports, etc, etc.
Thanks for the input,
PeterMac

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Will do! I am stoked. I have been wearing glasses for almost 35 years.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
Hope it goes well for you. I had it done 4 years ago and have been extremely pleased. Snowboarding, basketball, swimming, it's all been great not to mess with glasses or contacts.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I had mine done about a year ago in Vancouver as well. Maybe at the same place you are going. I had a great experience and can see perfect. The valume and vicoden they give you prior to the operation will have you a little looped. Mine set me back about $3000, but it was money well spent.

Re: Laser Eye Surgery
I am 3.5 years out and still see 20/15. Cost was $1800 in Boise.
