Default Can I spend some time on your band saw?

I'm working on some cork/wood duck decoys that require some band sawing. I don't have a band saw. This presents a problem.

I don't have the means nor the space for a band saw so was hoping that some kind soul would allow myself and my buddy to spend two, possibly more, evenings sawing up what we need. We could pay with your favorite beverage or something like that. We will also leave your shop/garage in the same condition we found it in(meaning we will clean up after ourselves).

The type of cutting we are doing requires some specifics for the band saw. Depth of cut should be around 7 inches, and width of cut should be around 14 inches. Typically, people will have to have installed a riser block for the depth of cut. I know this is pretty restrictive, but I thought I would try anyway.

I'm in Tualatin, so if you're close it would be a bonus. However, beggars can't choose

Thanks in advance.

Geoff,

I am not sure I understand your measurements. Please clarify and I will measure mine.

A. Clearance distance from the blade to the arm that supports the top of the saw. IE: this is the longest piece of wood the saw can cut.

B. Thickness of the wood to be cut.

C. Width of the wood or length of the cut to be made. Do not believe this is an issue as typically the clearance on the front and back side of the blade is usually unlimited.

Some of the local high school shops have big powermatic band saws that would do everything you need. They are usually good about letting some use them on a one time deal.

MOST 14" bandsaws are rated for a 6" depth of cut, including mine. To do more they need an extension block added that also requires a new longer blade.

I always like to use situations like yours to purchase new power tools!

fishbait,

No worries. I sure appreciate you checking out your saw for me though. No worries at all!
