Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
Its a mouth full to say and you may have had it before I did about 30yrs ago. It went away. Then, this June I was getting up after fishing, and hiking on the big D the day before and the minute my feet hit the floor YEOW!!!. I walked it off and fished and hiked two more days .
I haven't been the same since, no day without pain and not just in the am. Podiatrist, confirms it is PF and has me in some inserts. But also wants me to be inactive, okay done that this summer but fall salmon season is coming up stompping the banks is what I would like to do.
Please pray for God to guide my actions, for me to accept the cards I have been dealt, and not to make the condition worse.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
Ouch! I had that. Got it from running in boots with heavy weight in the Army. Got up one morning, and it felt like someone was sticking a knife in my foot! Every now and then I still get twinges. It will be with you awhile if you're not careful. Wear the inserts, and keep your feet up as much as possible. Try icing them a couple of times a day. Ibuprophen helps too. Hope you feel better!

Re: Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
I worked on my feet for 13 years in a dairy, wearing water proof dairy boots (like wearing shin high waders all day long). I got heal pain, and it is heal bone spurs also called planter fascitis I think. I know what you are going through. The tendon pulls on the bone and calcium forms and causes the spur to develop.
Also, what helped me is a boot I wore at night the doctor prescribed. It kept my foot slanted upward, keeping the heal stretched, to stretch the tendons in the heal, thus relieving the spur which relieved the pain big time after a couple of weeks.
I don't work on my feet much now, but if I go tromping on rocks fishing or hiking, it does return once in a while.
I've prayed for you.

Re: Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
Letsfish,
I have had it also. Went to a foot DO. and he gave me 2 shots from the side of the heel, that didn't help, when I went to my reg. DO. and told him what the foot DO. did, his words were I bet I can fix it. He gave me an injection he con cocked right in the bottom of my heel right to the spot. about 1 week later my foot was getting better and in about 3 weeks it didn't hurt a bit.
I will pray for a quick recovery for you.

Re: Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
I will keep you in my prayers. I had it, Dr. prescribed orthotics. Wore them for 2 1/2 years and now the pain is gone. I was to the point I could hardly walk without shoes with the orthotics in them. I haven't worn the orthotics for a little over a year now and I can go barefoot, wear sandals or any other kind of shoes I want. Now the knees are going!! The pain of getting old!!!!!!!!! I am a school custodian, so am on my feet 7 hrs. a day. It really takes a toll on your body. I also did some exercises to stretch the tendons in the back of the heel and leg. I just pulled my toes towards my knees whenever I was sitting down or in bed before I fell asleep. It did seem to help.

Re: Plantar Fascitis(Heel Pain)
Thanks for response, got the orthodics when I saw the doc. The night sling may be next. Then cortisone shots. that seems to be the method of treatment. Had a pretty good week I soaked my feet in cold water(okay I had to fish ) and that seemed to help so I did that while on vacation. But This morning the heel pain is back. keep praying !!! Thanks
