Default Davis Lake??

Headed to the high lakes in a couple weeks and have never fished Davis. Is the water as low as it was a few years ago?
If you think it worth a try from a float tube, where on the lake would we be wise to try and where do you go in to reach good water? Appreciate any ideas.

I don't know what the current level is, but fishing near the lava dam has always been productive for me. WATCH OUT FOR THE WIND. It came up on me a couple of years ago and let's just say the sphincter pucker factor went way up. I had white caps coming over my tube, and the wind was blowing the opposite way of where i needed to get. fortunatly a boater threw me a rope and slowly drug my behind back to where i needed to go. Made for an interesting day.

The water level has come up over recent years, but still not returned to normal. I would put in at Lava Flow Campground. There is a channel between the lava flow and the reeds that you should be able to easily navigate with your float tube. I would fish along the reeds just past where the channel opens up into the lake. Tight lines

I was on Davis last Saturday A.M., launch my boat at the paved lava flow ramp. The water level is up from the last few years but as mentioned it's well below full pool. Are you intrested in bass or trout? There are trout in the lake (I saw 60/80 of them) but their #'s are low. I would put in @ West Davis if I was fishing for trout. There are lots of LMB available. For a tube the lava flow unimproved launch is your best bet as the lava flow area holds good #'ers of bass.

Looking for trout. I appreciate the input from each of you.
Looks like the lava area is the best. Any other thoughts will be appreciated.

Where's the paved ramp at the Lava Flow CG? The few times I've been there I put my tube in at the unimproved launch right next to the flow, I didn't know there was another one

The Lava Flow campground & boat ramp is located south of the unimproved launch area that’s next to the actual lava flow.

When you turn off the highway heading to the unimproved launch go straight through the open green gate just before the road takes a hard right. The gate (and campground area) is closed until Sept 1st to protect nesting eagles in that area. From there just follow the signs… cant miss it.

If you see a chipmonk on an old stump you went too far . Just kidding.

That explains why I've never seen it, I've always gone before Sept 1st. Thanks
