Default Winterizing I/O (Opps hit delete key)

First try at posting became to corrupted had to delete.Sorry!

First thing -
Gather all of the items you need.
Stabalizer
Engine fogging oil foam
Grease gun with marine grease
Engine oil
Oil filter
Fuel Filter
Salt-Away
Rags (clean)
Anti Freeze Auto
RV Antifreeze for water lines

My winterizing madness!
First thing to do is remove the propellor.

Then remove the brass collars and spline shaft from the prop if so equipped. Then I inspect the shaft and seals and anode.I clean all of this area up and wire brush the anoide to remove salt powder.

Here I reinstall the brass prop bushing and grease the collar that contacts the prop.

Reinstall the prop and lock collar and nut. Tighten to specs and bend the tabs down and lock nut.
Now I proceed to getting water to the lower unit to warm engine up. I like putting the lower unit into a large bucket to run. This causes backpressure and the water flow is consistant. Causes the thremostate to open properly.

After the water temp comes up to temp. I add Salt-Away to the water and run the engine up to 1500 rpms to circulate the salt away thru everything.

Notice the foaming of Salt Away.
After, I have ran this for 10 minutes I proceed to remove the air cleaner and service it while the engine is running.

Next I get my fogging oil can ready and start to spray the foam into the carb until slowly at first to inject cylinders. Cause the engine to stumble. Turn off the key. Reinstall the air cleaner and hook up all vent hoses.

Now we proceed to changing the oil and filter.
fortunately I installed the remote oil filter. So the first thing here is to poke a hole on the top of the filter.

The next thing is to pull the drain hose thru the transom drain and open it to drain the oil.

This will take a little time. After 5 minutes I remove the oil filter. Now your gonna need your rags here.

Remove the filter and have a rag in your hand. As soon as you get the filter off, place the rag on the oil filter mount and clean it all up.

Next ,get the new oil filter out and put a small munt of oil on the seal. Reinstall and hand tighen down. (NO Wrenching)

After, the oil has quit draining, clean the hose up and retighten the oil drain nut. Check the chain connector to the drain plug before pushing hose back into the hull.
Refill engine with 41/2 qts of engine oil.I do not run the engine and get oil up into the filter until the spring. Oil over that many months will deteriate the oil filter and this can cause a plugged filter.
Next, we replace the fuel filter. Tight area, take your time, there will be gas in the filter (NO SMOKING).

Remember small amount of oil on seal first.
Now we have changed the oil and filter, fuel filter, and fogged the engine.

Check the outdrive oil res. Add as needed. If you need to change the outdrive oil. I pay the dealer the $80.00 bucks. They pressure test and check it out and fill her up with oil. Why because I like having the dealer on the hook for the outdriv service. Now we move on to greasing the shift cables, push thottle wide open in forward and reverse and grease the shafts. On the V-6 there is a spline grease fitting on the back of the motor housing. You may need to tap the starter to rotate the shaft Won't hurt anything here. Three pumps of the grease gun. No pick as I can't get in here to get a pik.
The second fitting is out on the housing on the Starboard side two thirds of the way down the housing.Book say up to 6 pum to 10 pumps of the gun. Spline Grease/Gimbal bearing grease.

Now to winterizing the motor. Locate and remove the five blue drain plugs.
Water pump base, manifolds left/right side and block just behind the motor mounts on the lower block area.Pain in the ---- to get to.
After we have drained the water, now go back and reinstall all fice drain plugs.
now to add anti freeze-
first- remove the clamp on the upper water pump water hose. Remove the end of the hose form the water pump. Pour in 1 gallon of anti freeze, replace hose back on the water pump. you just filled the block up to the thermastate housing with anti freeze.
Next pull the two water hoses off of the thermostate housing going to the manifolds.

Pour the anti freeze into the exhaust manifold hose. I fillem up becuase air causes rust.Do both side and the reinstall hoses and tighten the calmps.
Congrats, you just winterized the engine and performed your services.

Raw water pickup. remove the outlit hose and drain, reinstall and tighten clamp. If you have one!
Bait tanks, drain completely, pour RV anti freeze into tank, turn on pump until you see pink coming out of discharge hose. You just winterized the pump and hoses.
Now I take the corrsion guard and spry the entire engine, coupler and pumps and connectors.

Next the batteries, I disconnect and remove to the house to keep em warm. Put on charger and bring up to full charge. Add any water to them as neede. Distilled please.

Next- Remove all electronics from boat and have in house.
clean the boat up.
Trailer- Grease teh hubs, jack the trailer up and block. I will do this shortly. Takes the oad off of the bearings and tires for th winter months.
